How it works01 — 04

Four steps, full visibility.

You always know where your case stands and what happens next.

Step 01

First contact

You describe your matter — by phone, through the form or in a video call. Confidential and straightforward.

Step 02

Assessment

You receive an honest evaluation of your prospects, the risks and the likely costs.

Step 03

Documents & strategy

I gather the relevant documents and set the tactical line — complete and with deadlines in mind.

Step 04

Representation

I take over correspondence, deadlines and your representation — out of court and, if needed, in court.

FeesRVG

Transparent costs from the start.

The basis for billing and the expected cost framework are discussed transparently before you instruct me.

Initial consultation

€190 incl. VAT

The initial consultation for consumers costs €190 incl. VAT. If you then instruct me in the same matter, this amount is generally credited unless otherwise agreed. For businesses, and beyond the initial consultation, the RVG or a fee agreement discussed in advance applies.

Mandate fees

under the RVG or a separate fee agreement

Fees are based on the German lawyers' fees act (RVG) or a separate fee agreement — depending on the type and scope of the mandate. We discuss both before you instruct me. This applies in criminal matters as well as in civil, tenancy, traffic and regulatory-offence matters.

If you wish, I will submit the coverage request to your legal expenses insurer and clarify, as far as possible in advance, the extent of cover.

Common questionsFAQ

What clients ask first.

General information only — not advice for your case. Always check deadlines and formalities against the specific document.

In traffic, tenancy and many civil matters as well as regulatory offences, often yes — depending on the policy and the dispute. Send me your insurer and policy number; the coverage request is made, where possible, before further material chargeable steps.

As an accused person you are generally not required to comply with a mere police summons. A duty to appear may exist if the summons is issued by the public prosecutor’s office or the court; even then the accused has no duty to make a statement about the matter. Different rules apply to witnesses — in particular, a police summons issued on the instructions of the public prosecutor can be binding. If in doubt, have the specific summons reviewed.

You can usually lodge an objection within two weeks of service. The deadline is stated on the notice — do not miss it. After that I review the file and the evidence before we decide on the next steps.

Defects should be reported to the landlord without delay and documented in writing where possible. Whether setting a deadline is necessary or advisable, and whether a rent reduction may be available, depends on the circumstances of the individual case. Describe the situation briefly and we will clarify the next steps.

For the areas listed here — civil, criminal, tenancy and traffic law as well as regulatory offences — I focus on clients in Berlin and the surrounding area. Meetings are by phone or video. Whether representation further afield makes sense is something we discuss case by case.
